Qty. 4 of the 5x3mm Neodymium magnets

 

I did not want this unit to be physically secured to just one printer so I made this portable mount to hold the Panda Touch. This unit features a battery tray with a slim 3000mAh power bank and a micro usb extended cable to charge the power bank without having to open the case.

The battery tray slides into the slot and does fit quite securely on it's own but there's also a 5x3mm pocket for a magnet to help hold it in place. You will need to superglue the female end of the extended micro usb cable into the slotted hole on the right side of the battery tray. I recommend 3M Scotch-Weld it works really well. You will need to slide the tray almost halfway into the slot on the back and guide the USB to Micro USB cable in the opening and pull the majority of the cable through with just enough left to connect to the battery bank. Now route the usb cable down and back towards the opening then go ahead and slide the battery tray all the way in until it stops.

The tray should be flush on both ends now. You will now need to feed the excess cable down into the hole but leave the small usb connector out you will need to connect this to the back of the Panda Touch back plate.

Now you can place the back plate onto the front of the Pandastal. You will see the 4 mounting holes lined up now. Take the four 3x0.5x10mm countersunk screws and secure it directly to the pedestal. The screws will need to be snug but use caution to not over tighten because they can strip out the threads if you turn the screws more than ½ to full turn beyond snug or finger tight.

At this point you're almost done, flip the unit over and take the excess cable and roll it up into a small multi loop bundle and tuck it into the pocket below. The cover is notched and also has pockets for magnets if you decide to use them.

Looks very cool. I think I am going to give this a try. How long does it run on that battery? That is my only concern I think I would have made one with a bigger battery.

I tested it with the screen timeout set to “always on” mode so it ran continuously and it lasted almost 4 hours on one full charge. I initially wanted a bigger battery pack in the base but couldn’t find a good match. The packs I saw would have made the stand ridiculously bigger than it is now. Hope it works out well for you I love mine it’s been a lot easier to manage on the stand. 👍🏼
