Description

The Smoothy Mount is the official mount designed for use with the Smoothy PTFE Bowden Y Connector. The Smoothy allows you to use an external spool with your Bambu Lab machine without disconnecting your PTFE Bowden Tubes.

The Smoothy can happily rest inline without a mount which has some advantages, but some users have requested a mounting method so I'm delivering for you!

The Smoothy Mount features a universal mounting design so it can be used with either an M3x8mm screw or magnets.

Having the mount separate allows for easy removal of the Smoothy without removing fasteners like screws, etc.

I've designed a couple images with placement ideas but the location and method is up to you.

The screw mount is most secure, while the magnets allow for more flexible placement. On the X1C, the screw hole closest to the outside edge of the machine works best.

Several magnet sizes are now supported for flexibility (see files). The magnets need to be fairly strong. If you don't have strong magnets, I recommend the screw mounting method.

The Smoothy Mount is compatible with Smoothy models that have flanges at both ends, which includes:

  • Smoothy V2 PC4-M6
  • Smoothy V2 PC4-M10
  • Smoothy V1 PC4-M10

If you have a Smoothy V1 M6 with no flange, simply upgrade to a Smoothy V2 and you'll be good to go!

FEATURING:

  • No Supports
  • No Brims
  • No Overhangs

NOTES:

I printed all tests successfully with the following:

  • Nozzle: 0.4mm
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Walls: 4+
  • Infill: Gyroid
  • Brims: Disabled
  • Supports: Disabled
  • Orientation: Vertical, wide side down
  • Glue Stick: Yes
  • Bambu Lab X1C
  • Cool Plate

UPDATES:

  • Support for several new magnet sizes has been added!

The Smoothy can be used commercially, but can't be resold.

Enjoy!

Great design and a perfect fit to the smooth Y split adaptor. Short question, if I'm planning to use it with the screw which screw do i remove from my Bambu lab X1C, the one that holds the side cover or the one that holds the back panel? Thank you

That looks great! When facing the back, it's farthest screw on the upper right. You'll want to use an M3x8 (socket head cap is ideal). You can also extend your PTFE tube for a more gentle curve by repurposing the coupler that comes with the machine (see last image of Smoothy Mount page).

I've seen your image, is it mandatory to use their connector also(the grey one with one blue end and one black end)?

Hello, one of the my first 3D print in my life. It works perfect for me, printed from black Bambu PLA-CF which was in the box with the printer. I used 0.4 nozzle, anyway it was necessary to increase the nozzle temperature from recommended 230° to 235° for this filament because the first attempt was wrong. About half of the splitter was printed when the filament stopped coming out from the nozzle, while the print continued without filament. So I stopped the print, increased the temperature, slowed down a little bit and then came out perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this model.

I have a good remix to use the extra Bambu Scraper Magnet instead of Round Magnets that you have to buy for sure, but you don't permit derivates and remixes. That's a really poor choice for a community Member.

I agree with you however if you want to share it you can still add it as a print profile. I see at least one other profile there that has custom magnet holes. Great idea to use that magnet though. I don't know how strong it is, I already had a pack of 6x3 neodymiums that are crazy strong so I'm using those.

I didn't know it could be done. Thanks for the information. I will do it immediately. It is still strong enough to keep the splitter in place.

Smoothy V2 Mount 6x2mm Magnets
Printed the 6x2mm magnets version, but ended up using the M3 x 8mm anyway. Printed in black PLA Basic without issue!
