Description

I loved the IKEA Alex Handles by Whity but never came around to print them.

After my son was born and he learned to stand and pull himself up, he was instantly drawn to my desk and constantly wanted to climb and grab stuff from the drawers.

Unfortunately, the original Handles by @Whity allowed him to climb so I redesigned the handles to be child safe.

The Handle is mounted “inside out” so the handle is facing inward. The inside flat piece has a new feature remixed into it - A Lock. Granted, it's not a hard one - but it should be small and sufficient enough that a baby or toddler cannot open the drawer without the key.

This eliminates the ability to grab and pull the blank drawers, pull dangerous stuff out of them or grab the handle. Additionally, the regular handles cannot be used to climb anymore.

If the kid is mature enough and doesn't want to climb / pull anymore, the handle can easily be installed in the original and correct position in order to allow easy use as it was intended.

To prevent damage to the drawers themselves, the “child lock” installation can easily be accomplished by using double sided tape.

Print is easy - no special settings needed.
