Description

Introducing the forward-swept wing fighter, the SU-47 Berkut!

The Soviet-built SU-47 was designed and built as a supersonic technology demonstrator. While the aircraft never entered service, it was used as an experimental platform for advanced technologies that ended up being used in several later developed fighters.

The Berkut, the Russian name for ‘Eagle’, is most readily recognized by its unique forward-swept wing design. The forward-swept wing offers greater maneuverability at transonic speeds. The aircraft also features a tandem-triple design, as the canards (forward control surfaces), wings, and elevators are all arranged in the same plane.

This model resurrects the SU-47 Berkut as the 2nd addition to the MadHouse Revenant Collection. It is approximately 1:100th scale to the actual aircraft. The model includes specially designed rotating canards!

Printing Tips

The aircraft is simple to print using the print profiles. The top half of the body does require supports under the hoods forward of the air intakes, but nowhere else. The designer print profiles have the supports pre-painted accordingly.

Due to the small parts associated with the rotating canards, it is important that your printer is calibrated properly to ensure tight tolerances.

Connecting parts are all designed to be press fit. Some parts may need to be trimmed or sanded to fit properly.

I personally discard the bottom halves of the tail booms because they otherwise must be glued to be attached. I have included them so they can be attached if desired.

Custom Variants

In homage to the Ace Combat video game series I created a custom design variant that I have named the SU-47 Berkut: Fractured Skies. The variant uses bold lines in place of camouflage to exude an air of aerial dominance. Designed as a passion project, the custom “skin” is an eye-catching option that requires a well-calibrated machine to print.

Feedback

If you have feedback on this model, the print profiles, or other potential future projects, please leave a comment! I hope to provide the highest fidelity models and to make printing as seamless as possible. Also, if you want to see more custom variants on this and other projects, be sure to leave a like and a boost when possible! This helps me to know that the work is appreciated and allows me to invest more time and resources in development.
