Description

This is a complete replacement for the Panda Touch 5" screen mounting system.

It uses the original PCB with contacts from the original plate.

*UPDATE 2.0*

The updated version of the mount is designed to reuse the original magnets from the plate that came with the device, those magnets can be pushed out using a pin from the back.

I have implemented the pinholes in my design as well in case you'd like to put the magnets back in the original plate.

To create the space for pinholes I had to redesign the hinge a bit, so the new hinge is not compatible with the 1.0 version unfortunately.

I have also added additional slot for the cable lock tab which allows redirecting the cable perpendicular to the screen which hides it from the view better (see last photo).

I've also removed the version embossed on the back.

To complete the build, you will need:

  • The original PCB
  • Screws to mount the PCB can be reused from the original, I advise using a thin washer or checking the exit hole after tightening the screw for debris (and shave it off if necessary).
  • Couple of 3x14mm screws to attach the plate to the bracket
  • Original magnets removed from the plate supplied with the panda touch

The model is completely support free; this is why you print the locator pins separate (very tight fit but trust me they fit!)

There is couple of channels for cable routing but of course you can just let the cable free directly from the back.

If you decide to use the routing channels, you can lock the cable in place with included locking tabs (press fit)

Happy printing!

What a great job, congratulations. I have a question about whether it is compatible with maCyo42 AMS Riser V2. I have another support, but when I want to see the original screen I have to take it off and it turns off. So your idea is great.

Hey, looking at the riser I think it would fit but you won't be able to open the screen further than level because the back of it would meet the riser bottom if that makes sense.

Replying to @elsebski :
I used a remix that someone posted and it's great, but I don't have the name on hand right now.

For me it's currently the best Mount which is available on makerworld. Have printed mine in PETG-CF. Thank you for this File :)!

I printed with 0.16 layer height extra fine detail, 3 walls with BL Matte PLA. I know you mentioned in some replies that the tolerancing is dependent on individual printers but the magnet holes and locating pins were too loose (I had to glue them), the screw holes for the pcb were way too small, I had to use M2x4 screws to replace the original, the pcd board bowed and didn't allow for a flush finish to the contact pins, the screw holes to fit the M3x14 you suggested were way too small once again (I had to drill the print to get these in), and lastly the cable has almost no tension relief on the back of the bracket (I also couldn't get the cable pins to stay the holes were way too big) after adjusting the print and taking more measure than originally anticipated, it does look great though. Great print and a lot of thought went into it, it was dimensioned very well, I just think it mayve been dimensioned a little "too well".

Hey, Thank you for the comment! I know there will be makers with their printers dialled in absolutely perfectly and much more accurate then mine (which is pretty off the shelf, as i spend my dialling in era with ender3:) ) you’re probably one of them hence the expansion of the wall is probably smaller, although the screw holes were too tight, which kinda disproves my theory 😅 I had to push the magnets absolutely straight down because of how tight it was. I may upload option 2 with adjusted dias

Happy with it overall but there are 3 issues, magnet holes are too large, PCB holes are too small and the PCB does not fit correctly without modification. There is a capacitor on the right side underneath the pins, if screwed in too tight it will cause pressure on the capacitor and wont fully contact the pins with the device. I had to cut a larger section to suit the PCB. Otherwise everything else fits well. The mounting piece that sits behind the stock panel fits well.

Hey, thank you for the comment! the tolerances for the magnets and the screws will depend heavily on the materials used and the settings of the printer, I know some people have had the same issues but for me and most the fit was good, I don't think it's possible to make it work for everyone unfortunately, best i could advise is to create extra wall in the slicer and Boolean a cylinder to make the holes bigger.

I probably have a wrongly calibrated filament, the holes for the PCB screws were tight and the holes for the magnets were little bit bigger. I glued the magnets. However, the holder is perfect and printing is easy. Thank you
