⚙️ Assembly Instructions:
📐 Engineering the KeyFlip
Designing KeyFlip wasn’t just about making a cool gadget — it was about pushing the limits of what’s possible with fully 3D-printed mechanisms. Getting a reliable spring action and ratchet system without using any metal parts meant going through dozens of iterations. Each test print taught me something new: how the spring flexed, how the ratchet clicked, how the button felt in the hand, and how the key sat in place.
The photo below shows just a fraction of the prototypes that didn’t make the cut — all stepping stones toward the final design. Every scrapped piece represents a tweak in geometry, tolerances, or ergonomics until everything came together into a smooth, reliable, and satisfying flip action.
The result is a model that’s not just printable, but truly functional — a design that works straight off your printer, built entirely from plastic, and engineered to last.
