I designed those for two reasons. First, it's a pain to handle the bottom panel with the fan cable still attached to the motherboard.
And second, when printing ABS, I was astonished to feel how hot the frame was. And I didn't like the idea that all the electronics was surrounded by a radiator and had only two little holes to cold down.
So I removed the bottom panel completely 😁
But if you want to use this fan mount and still use the bottom panel no worries. There is still enough clearance to attach it. However the fan and the panel hole will not be perfectly aligned but that should not cause any issues for the airflow.
1. Remove the bottom panel and unscrew the fan.
2. Remove those 3 screws from the motherboard.
3. Next, the fan have to be snap in to the mount.
4. Finally, secure the mount onto the motherboard :
K1 - Use 3 screws (M3x18) that were holding the fan previously.
* Optional : If you are obsessed like me by symmetric design 😁, you can insert a fourth screw inside the remaining hole. M3 screws from 4 to 10mm will fit.
K1 Max - Use the 3 screws (M3x6) you removed earlier from the motherboard
