I designed a custom filtration system for my X1C and P1S printers. My goal was to utilize the filters I already had at home for various purposes and position the fan behind these filters.
If you use the AC-powered fan mentioned below, you can adjust its speed depending on the material you're printing. For instance, you can turn it up to the maximum for ABS or reduce the speed for PETG and PLA.
The filter system effectively clears the bed with a "shifty" bed plate aligner installed while also enabling you to still remove and replace the original carbon filter.
It's securely attached to the inside of the printer using 3M clear mounting tape.
The fan power exists the enclosure with a snug press fit. Ive had no issues without glue and this makes the fan easy to swap in the event you ever need to replace it.
To power the system, I drilled two holes to run power. One just below the filter into the vacant space behind the OE power plug connector, and another above where you plug in the printer. I recommend a grommet for the hole in the rear sheet metal cover.
I mounted the speed controller/power adapter directly to the rear of the machine, above the factory power switch for easy access.
Enjoy!
