Description

The Switch 2 Controller Joy-Con Controller Grip is designed to make your single Joy-Con extremely comfortable and functional to hold! There are many great Switch 2 grips out there but none of them were perfect, so I've made my own. For this model I've taken inspiration from many of the great designs available on Maker World and combined my favourite aspects of all of them resulting in a model that is high-quality, easy to print, fits great and most importantly; comfortable to hold!

This model is symmetrical and suits both the L and R Joy-Cons. It is one single part and press fits the Joy-Con perfectly. Not too tight where it's hard to remove but not too loose it falls out. The triggers are built in with a flex joint and retains the satisfying clicky feeling of the Joy-Cons. There are finger indents on each trigger to make them easier to locate. The LED status light and colour of the Joy-Con is  visible through a chamfered cutout. The grip shape was inspired by modern controllers and feels great in the hand.

Print Settings:

  • 0.12mm adaptive layer height; This is a curved, detailed model and benefits greatly from a low adaptive layer height.
  • 15% gyroid infill; Strong and sturdy with the best print quality
  • Material; I had the best results printing in PLA. PETG-HF didn't yield the highest quality for me.
  • Bed adhesion; Really important with this print as the footprint is quite small. Make sure your plate is as clean as possible. I let isopropyl alcohol sit and start to evaporate for a few minutes before wiping off to remove all oils and debris.

I have spent many many hours on this model making it work the best for me and it's one of my favourite 3D models I've ever made. It really does change the experience of using the Switch 2 Joycons and I'm stoked to be able to share it with everyone else. I would love to know what you all think of this so please let me know in the comments below!
