Model Introduction

First, thanks to Gridfinity Storage Box Organizer for sharing

Gridfinity-compatible stackable boxes, can be used with the Gridfinity Storage Box Organizer

Meticulously modeled according to Gridfinity's design documentation, this box has a larger internal space compared to the original Gridfinity boxes, with a usable depth of 17.22mm

Only necessary fillets were added, removing the large sloped area beneath the label. Fillets allow for supported printing and are easier to remove

Features

🧱 Stackable Design

After adding 0.5mm text labels, the boxes can still stack perfectly, reserving a 0.2mm error margin

🏷️ Customizable Text Labels

After extensive testing, text printed with the Helvetica font shows much better detail

Recommended size is 7mm, not bold, with a thickness of 0.5mm. Adjust character spacing to 1 to 2, and modify according to the preview width. Try to make the text fill the label area for easier visual centering. My approach is to first increase the character spacing until the text just fills the label area, then center the text. At this point, it's easier to adjust visually. Then reduce the character spacing, and the resulting text will be centered (hopefully)

If it's for screws, I usually use text like M1.2x2x2, which also includes the diameter of the screw head. No units are specified because most are in millimeters by default

In fact, the main reason was some issues found while using the Gridfinity Storage Box Organizer. After converting STL files to STEP files, I found they were still difficult to edit

Especially the fillets were recognized as many faces

Finally, I spent some time repeatedly modeling and verifying according to the Gridfinity v5 documentation

The labels now have slim tree supports enabled by default, which are easier to remove
