This model faithfully recreates the most distinctive feature of the F-14 Tomcat's variable-sweep wings, allowing it to be posed in various configurations. It is a single plate print, with very simple supports, and quick, enjoyable assembly.
The F-14 “Tomcat” fighter is a twin-seat, twin-engine supersonic carrier-based fighter developed by Grumman (now Northrop Grumman) in the United States. It first flew in 1970 and entered service in 1974, replacing the F-4 “Phantom”. Its iconic variable-sweep wing design (adjustable from 20° to 68°) balances high-speed and low-speed performance. It is equipped with the AN/AWG-9 radar (detection range 195 kilometers) and AIM-54 “Phoenix” long-range missiles (range 160 kilometers), capable of simultaneously tracking 24 targets and engaging 6. It boasts a maximum speed of Mach 2.38, a combat radius of 930 kilometers, and carries armaments including a cannon, air-to-air missiles, and air-to-ground bombs. Having participated in numerous combat operations, after its retirement from the US military in 2006, only the Iranian Air Force continues to operate it.
