Description

I Had one IKEA TROFAST Frame that was not used anymore, so I repurposed it to be a filament storage rack.

I’ve ended up with 4 shelves, each shelf will hold 5 Filament Boxes or 6 Spools, the IKEA TROFAST frame I used was 46x30x145cm, I installed a socket at 12cm from the bottom and then spaced them 31cm for the rest going up with depth of 7cm from the front and 8cm in the back side.

but you can use any frame or cabinet that you already have or can find around

What I used for my build:

  • 8x Rail End Sockets (print the attached model or get something similar)
  • 4x $1 Wooden Broom Handle (21mm thick) then I cut them to the needed size
  • Basic tools (Drill, Handsaw, Measuring Tape, Pencil, and some Wood Screws)

Rail End Socket ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5838720 )

All of the Sockets are I_K_B designs, there are 4 different types of End Sockets, and 10 sizes for each type 13mm, 16mm, 19mm, 21.5mm, 24mm, 25.4mm, 29mm, 32mm, 40mm & 50mm). He recommend doing a quick print of the size you need to check for fit, making any scale alterations that are required and then printing with an infill level that matches the application.
