An Exploding Waste Grenade

Hello everyone! I'm Qingluge (same name across all platforms), an award-winning designer in multiple 3D printing competitions across multiple platforms. This time, I'm bringing you a exploding waste grenade, I hope you'll like it~

As 3D printing enthusiasts, we deal with waste generated by printing every day. These seemingly useless “garbage” actually hide huge potential for transformation!

So I thought: Can I design a “weapon” that not only gives waste a new life but also brings a fun experience?

The waste grenade was born! It really can “explode”! However, what bursts out is 3D printing waste!

Waste grenade “explosion” principle analysis: When the grenade is thrown out, it hits the ground or wall, and the vibration generated will loosen the small claws, thus unable to grasp the hooks on the shell, and the shell will eject the waste under the action of the double torsion springs.

Here is the assembly tutorial, it is recommended to use PETG printing.

1. First, print all the parts, prepare 3 double torsion springs, 3 BT3*8 self-tapping screws (available in Maker's Supply Newbie Gift Pack from Tuozhu), 1 17mm filament and 6 20mm filaments.

2. Use 3 20mm long filaments to assemble the middle pillar and 3 shells to form a hinge structure.

3. Take out 3 baffles, 3 double torsion springs and 3 filaments, and assemble them to form a connecting structure.

4. Take out the pillar with small claws and place it in the middle position.

5. Take out the top, align with the 3 positioning pillars, cover it, and then tighten the screws.

6. Take out the safety grip and a 17mm filament to form a hinge structure.

7. Pinch the 3 baffles, turn the grenade upside down, and close the shell.

8. Cover the safety grip and insert the cotter pin safety.

9. Waste can be loaded from the 3 holes at the bottom of the grenade.

10. Remove the cotter pin safety, hold the safety grip, it will not “explode”. When you throw it, it will “explode”, and the waste inside will become “shrapnel” and fly out.
