Description

UPDATE: 2 versions, Original and Revised model with quick release to allow removing broken filament if needed. 5 into 1 adapter to allow the 4 AMS filaments and the gantry mounted roll to be available all the time without removing and inserting tubing every time you want to feed material not compatible with the AMS, LOOK AT ALL THE PICTURES SO YOU KNOW WHAT IS REUSED AND WHAT IS NOT. Note that since we are no longer using the 4 port metal retaining clip, the tubing must be a very tight fit. The model includes a tool to hold the tubing while pressing it into the adapter. Be VERY careful removing the old 4 hole cap, you don't want to damage the 3 ears that hold the new 5 hole cap in. I helps to use a small screwdriver to gently pry away the 3 sides that the 3 ears engage. Please look at all of my pictures to make sure you reinstall all needed parts!

It works perfectly, I also slightly modified another PTFE holder, as I like the design.

Is this modified holder available? Looks a lot better than cable ties…

Hi, just uploaded the print profile. You have to choose the "5-hole" version for A1, easy to identify, it´s the green one :-) https://makerworld.com/en/models/667636#profileId-595241

Model is great and seems to be doing the job well for me, but the model description would benefit from providing a link to BambuLab's instructions for removing the filament hub.

Do you mind me asking, how do you setup the 5th colour when printing, are you using pause and feeding it into the extruder?

I don't have to do anything, the model allows me to switch between the AMS and the external spool without touching anything or retracting spools, etc.

I believe you just need to select external spool…not the AMS…I’m a newbie so if my verbiage is incorrect please forgive me.

What is this part used for?

Since the tubing is a really tight fit he included that part to use as a tool to slide it into place. It's not actually used at the end of the day. Look at his picture of it on the tube with plyers around it and it'll make more sense. :)

I saw this and was intimidated at first by having to take apart the splitter, but it also seemed like it would work way better than the other splitter I had installed so I could maintain use of the external spool. I’m happy to report that not only did the print come out perfectly, but it also works as if it was a factory part. I printed it in PLA to make sure the parts were as smooth as possible and have used all four AMS spools and the external spool since installing and have had no issues.

Fine model, but after disassembly I realized that there is already a 2.5mm hole in the middle of the 4to1 joint, that i could drill to have a place for the 5th roll, so i kept it as stock as possible that way. Anyhow, thank you for sharing this great model ;)

Worked perfectly exactly what I was looking for to be able to use my TPU spool. Thank a lot for this saves me from removing a PTFE when needing to use TPU that cannot be used with AMS. Just make sure to remove the metal piece as well as the first insert in the AMS hub before trying to put the 5 port adapter in.
