Dinosaurs

These are four fossil-themed, stackable coasters based on the following:

  1. The in-ground Stegosaurus fossil currently displayed at the Houston Museum of Natural Science
  2. One of many examples of Ammonite fossils
  3. The skull of the famous T-Rex “Stan," found in South Dakota in 1987
  4. The iconic Raptor fossil from the beginning of Jurassic Park

Assembly

This prints in two parts - the stackable base and the coaster itself. The coaster is printed face-down with five pegs that firmly secure it to the coaster base without glue or post-processing, even if your filament flow isn't finely-tuned.

Customizing

I've included separate STEP files for the coaster pegs and base if anyone wants to use that as a basis to create their own coasters. To make customized coaster faces that work with the bases:

  1. Create a circular STL with a 1mm height and 85mm diameter
  2. Import the Coaster Pegs to the slicer
  3. Move the coaster cylinder and pegs to the center of the build plate
  4. Create an assembly from both parts
  5. Offset the pegs by +1mm on the Z axis

Powered by MakerWorld-Image to Keychain which I used to convert the original images into coaster STLs.

Now including print profiles for 0.2mm nozzles!
