Description

This Print Profile includes all the components you need to upgrade your AMS to use loose (silica gel) desiccant. And the additional Dry Pods allow the AMS to hold more desiccant, which will mean longer times between refreshes.

 

This has been done before, in many different combinations, but I couldn't find one that met all my needs. I feel that this remix contains the best combination of AMS Dry Pod and Desiccant Containers that are currently available, and I added a Funnel to help load them with silica.
 

There are 2 parts included that can hold the hygrometer, only print one:


1) a Shallow Hole version that can hold more desiccant, and
2) a Thru Hole version, designed by FLAP_design, where the hole for the hygrometer goes all the way through the pod. This version holds desiccant in the Dry Pod, but it can generate a more accurate reading because it will be measuring the overall AMS humidity, rather than the humidity of the desiccant in the Dry Pod with the hygrometer, i.e., the readout is less likely to be be distorted by the silica close to the reader.

 

Just drag your preferred option onto the build plate.

The Desiccant Containers can be loaded with generic desiccant and dropped into the slots in the back of the AMS. The top of the Desiccant Containers is split into two parts. The lower part should be glued on, and the upper snapped in after desiccant is added. They are easy to remove and replace the desiccant in.

To refresh the desiccant; pour it into a glass tray, place in the microwave for 2 minutes. Let it cool, then pour it back into the Dry Boxes. DO NOT put the Dry Boxes in the microwave! The desiccant gets VERY hot and will melt the Dry Boxes.

 

Note that the Dry Pods will also work with the Hydra spool tray.

Or if you are using the factory Bambu AMS spool tray then after inserting the Desiccant Containers, the original AMS dessicant covers can be snapped on top of them.

 

With fresh desiccant, the humidity was down to 10% after a couple of hours, and it has stayed there for over 2 months now.

V2 version adds an extension to the Funnel that allows it to cover Wide Dry Pods so desiccant is not lost when filling them. The same Funnel works also with Narrow Dry Pods.

Hello, That is possible to give the step model of this part please? My hygrometer is not in the same sens of yours, the spurs on mine are vertical. Thanks lot

Hi. You should add some printing details. Especially for supports. Tree support is recommended? Why is there a tree support inside the model, it is easy to remove?

I found it easy to remove with a curved pick tool.

printed flawlessly. i printed mine in Giantarm transparent PETG with the idea of seeing the desiccant color easier. I've had them installed now a full 24hrs. i went from 41% humidity at the time of installation down to 12% this morning last i checked. everything fits in the AMS perfectly and the locking funnel works flawlessly.

Easy to print - I did them in a matte red PLA. Forgot to kill the Aux Fan so one of the lids warped a little but that is on me. Worked great!

Just needed to print the funnel as I already had the whole desiccant holder set printed. I like how the funnel slides into the groves and stays in place.

Congratulations to the author of the design, the sled joints are perfect, all the pieces that compose it are simply wonderful. Every single piece adapts perfectly to the location in which it will be inserted.
