Description

Weight Storage for Dumbbell Weights

My dumbbell weights needed to be stored when not in use. But also quickly available in case the weight needs to be changed.

This solution stores them vertically so they can easily be grabbed and put back between exercises. 

 

I printed the model in:

  • Matte PLA for the container
  • TPU for the feet and inserts
    • the insert has to be printed in a flexible material

This model has TPU feet and TPU inserts to make sure the floor is not scratched, the container doesn't slide around, and the weights are dampened when place in the container. 


Assembly

To assemble the print you'll need to 

  • glue one feet into each of the four holes in the bottom of the container
  • glue one dampening insert into each of the weight slots
    • The TPU inserts need to be bent
    • I recommend to first put the super glue, then position the insert, then put a weight on top to keep the insert in place while the glue is hardening

 

Sizes and Parametric Customisation

The default profile provides the Container and TPU parts in four sizes:

  • 5kg weights (205mm diameter, 29.1mm thickness)
  • 2.5kg weights (160mm diameter, 25.34mm thickness)
  • 1.25kg weights (128mm diameter, 20.43mm thickness)
  • 0.5kg weights (95mm diameter, 14.29mm thickness)

Measure your weights before you print and check if the largest one fits. 

They vary in thickness and diameter a lot.

 

The parametric version allows you to measure and configure your own!

  • Measure the diameter and thickness and update the values in the configurator
  • In Bambu Studio, split the model into object (right click → split → To objects)
  • Print four of the feet and four of the inserts in TPU
  • Print the container in PLA (or the filament of your choice)
