Bid Farewell to E-waste: Transform Your Old Laptop Screen into a Monitor!

Do you have a spare laptop screen from an upgrade, or one you no longer use? It needn't become a burden on your conscience (and the environment!). With this 3D-printed frame project, you'll give it a glorious purpose: transforming it into a functional PC monitor!

I, your humble 3D modeler, have delved into the world of repurposing and created this frame for the LP140WH4-TLA1 screen and the 58c HDMI-VGA controller board. The result? A monitor that rivals store-bought ones (okay, maybe not quite, but it's a DIY marvel!).

The Journey of a DIY Monitor

This is the first prototype of many to come! I've identified several areas for improvement, so this project is in constant evolution. This means you can expect even more enhancements and perhaps even new versions in the future!

The key advantage here is the freedom. You can use that gathering-dust laptop screen, or, if you're feeling adventurous, acquire both a controller board and a spare LCD and build a monitor from scratch. The choice is yours, and the satisfaction of creating something useful with your own hands is guaranteed!

And there's more! This project is the perfect pairing for the controller board enclosure I've already created and posted here. Together, they form the dynamic duo of technological reuse!

So, what are you waiting for? Download the files, grab your 3D printer, and let's breathe new (and brilliant!) life into those forgotten screens together! After all, who says recycling can't be fun and useful?

Effortless Assembly: Your New Monitor Comes to Life!

Assembling your custom monitor is easier than you think! Let's go step-by-step so you can see your old screen shine again:

First, take the back pieces of the monitor casing – the right and left rear pieces – and fit them together. Do the same with the front pieces. Then, with everything fitted, it's time to glue the rear and front parts to form your monitor's chassis.

Before closing everything, an important detail: secure the screws of the universal metal stand (the one you carefully chose!) to the back of the model. This ensures your monitor remains stable and secure wherever you place it.

After that, the pièce de résistance: glue the controller board enclosure in the designated location. It fits perfectly, as it's the complement to the project you already know!

Done! Your new monitor, crafted with care and creativity, is assembled and ready for action. How about sharing a photo of your finished project?
