Description

Parametric Scoop!

This is a fully customizable scooper intended originally for cats so I can ensure I'm giving them the proper and same proportions :) Although with the customizability you can make a perfect scoop to fit your own needs

Open the Model in Makerlab via the “Customize" Button ( Desktop Only )

  • You will see several parameters defined.

Adjust the Parameters

Modify these key parameters to fit your needs:

ParameterDescriptionTypical Range / Notes
scoop_widthInner width of the scoop bowl~40–80 mm (wider for bigger scoops)
scoop_lengthInner length (front to back)~50–100 mm
scoop_heightInner height/depth of the bowl~30–50 mm
wall_thicknessThickness of walls and bottom2–3 mm for strength and printability
fillet_radiusRadius to round inside and outside edges2–5 mm (larger for smoother edges)
handle_lengthLength of the handle extending behind the scoop70–120 mm (longer handle = better leverage)
handle_widthWidth of the handle grip15–30 mm (adjust for comfort)
handle_heightHeight/thickness of the handle grip8–15 mm
handle_radiusRounded edges radius on handle2–5 mm (for comfort and print quality)
hex_sizeSize of each hex hole in drainage grid4–8 mm (smaller for more holes)
hex_thicknessWall thickness of each hex hole1.5–3 mm (balance strength and drainage)
hex_marginSpace between drainage grid and scoop walls2–5 mm (prevents weakening edges)

Slice & Print

  • Import the STL into your slicer software.
  • Use standard PETG or PLA printing settings.
  • Support material may not be needed if printed upright; add supports if necessary.

Post-Processing

  • Remove any supports carefully.
  • Light sanding can improve smoothness if desired.
  • The drainage holes allow small crumbs to escape or if you want you can use it as a litter scoop as well!

Tips:

  • Start with moderate fillet values (3 mm) for a balance of smoothness and print time.
  • Increase wall thickness or amount in the slicer if you need a more durable scoop.
  • Adjust handle size for your hand size and grip preference.
  • Test print a smaller version to verify fit before printing the full size.
