Description

I am experimenting with flame sensors for hopefully improving the safety of a laser device and chose this sensor to use for the project. I need a case for them with different options, so here it is!

This device is usable in ESPHome as a binary sensor. Here is how it might be configured on GPIO1:

binary_sensor:
 - platform: gpio
   pin: GPIO1
   name: "Flame Sensor 1"
   id: pefs1

I do not vouch for the safety or accuracy of this device and any fire safety application you may use it for is not my responsibility.

Required For Assembly:

  • 2x M2 Ruthex/CNC Kitchen or other similar sized inserts
  • 2x M2 washers
  • 2x M2 screws - M2x12 may work, but if the inserts are too far in you need longer ones
  • Grove temperature sensor

Magnetic Mount Variant: You can use one or two 8x2mm square or disc magnets. Smaller magnets will also fit but be less strong.

Screw Mount Variant: The hole for the screw in the base is 5mm wide. Do not use a screw head that is higher than about 4mm without being very careful about not shorting any contacts underneath.

Assembly

Install two M2 inserts into the base variant of your choosing.
If you are using the screw mount variant, attach it to the thing of your choosing with a screw now.
If you are using the magnetic mount variant, install two 8x2mm disc magnets in the slots as pictured to the right hand side here.

Carefully insert the flame sensor into the main body. These are not all created equal in terms of their assembly, hence you may need to slightly move the sensor on the board.

Also my model of the board as pictured to the right is not accurate, please ignore where its components are.

Attach the lid to the base. The big hole aligns over the plug on the board. Secure with the two screws and washers.

Congratulations, you have completed the build!
