Description

Creation of a detailed video explaining how to assemble is in progress.

Printed in PLA

Important Notes:

Depending on the exact model of MG995 servo you order, you might need to cut the servo sockets a little (the 3d printed plastic) so that the motor connector will stick out enough from the other side.

If the servo gear is below the surface of the wall, you probably need to trim the sockets a little bit.

Notice the position of the micro switch.

These screws might hit their adjacent wall, I will work on an improved model where this doesnt happen.

For now you can either let them grind or glue the servo mount with epoxy glue, instead of using the screws

Make sure the starting position of the arm is pressing the microswitch down. if it's not enough bend gently the microswitch lever to increase pressure. if the servo will try to force its way because it is not calibrated properly it might “eat” the plastic gears. a good improvement (slightly more expensive) is to use full metal gears servo.

Soldering a 1000 uF capacitor to the VIN and GND of the arduino nano, will improve perforance on fast servo movements. + of the capacitor to the VIN, and - to the GND. alternatively in the program you can set the speed to very slow (long intervals instead of the random speeds), this should help with the voltage drop on fast servo movements.

This is what the assembly looks like from the bottom of the box. you can pass the wires through the wall hole, but it's not critical.

Working on a video and some instructions.

Meanwhile, an improvement to the existing design would be to solder a 1000uF capcaitor on to the Vin and Gnd pins of the arduino.

When the servo is triggered at high speeds, it draws a lot of current which makes the voltage drop which resets the arduino. the capcitor helps to mitigate this issue.

Have fun and support my work with a boost please!
