Description

WHAT IS IT?

I just got my P1P today, and I realized it needs a lot of space for depth because the spool sits on the rear of the printer. Not only does the printer need space behind it for the spool, you also need space to slide it onto the holder. Instead, I designed this model to be stuck to the wall next to the printer, allowing you to push your printer closer to the wall, close that huge gap, and use your space more efficiently.

ADDITIONAL HARDWARE NEEDED

  • Strong double-sided tape (I used the extra 3M adhesive strips included with the BambuLab aux part cooling fan. You need only 2 to install the fan on the P1P. It comes with 5 total, 3 extra, plus I peeled the unused one off the back of the fan and used that as well)
  • (EDIT) In my case, Bambu's included adhesive failed after a few days. It may be that I didn't actually clean the wall surface beforehand as recommended by every adhesive manufacturer, or it may be that the adhesive just failed. Either way, I've been using T-Rex “Extreme Mounting Tape” for a few days (edit: MONTHS!) now and it's holding fantastically despite it claiming that it won't stick well to polyethylene plastics, like PETG, which have polyethylene right in the name.

MY PRINT SETTINGS

I printed mine in PETG, 3 walls, 40% infill to make sure it was super strong. The rest was the default “Generic PETG” profile in OrcaSlicer. No supports!

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Slice and print one roller and one end cap.
  2. Clean the place on the wall where you'd like to stick the roller.
  3. Apply strong double-sided tape to back of the roller. I used four pieces, one on each “side” of the circle.
  4. Firmly apply the roller to the wall, making sure to follow the instructions for the adhesive you're using. You may have to firmly press the roller to the wall for several seconds or minutes. Keep in mind your placement; if you're wanting to put your printer next to this, ensure there's enough room for a roll of filament to fit.
  5. Place your roll of filament, snugly push the end cap on, and enjoy!
