Easy Cable Winder available in 2 designs - Because Tangles Are for Headphones from 2003

Say goodbye to cable chaos and hello to smooth, organised vibes! This 3D-printable cable winder is your new pocket-sized superhero, rescuing cords from the evil clutches of knots and tangles.

Whether it’s charging cables, earbuds, or mysterious USBs you swear you didn’t own, this little guy’s got your back. Just wind, snap, and boom – tidy desk, tidy life.

Printing:

  • 2 designs each on separate plate
  • winder prints with supports

IMPORTANT:

If you are not using my print profile and use STL files to slice it yourself make sure you open winder and lid as ONE OBJECT.

It Should look like in the picture below:

Tested with Bambu Lab filaments: PLA-CF, Basic PLA, Matte PLA

Assembly and using:

Very simple 2 part design, put a cable in winder, make sure both cable ends are same length, line cable with 2 grooves on bottom part and then twist top part till it snaps, then wind the cable in. Done!

This is the first design I have boosted. I have read a lot of comments about how this doesn’t work and the winder is always stuck. I have now printed this model on 3 different printers. Kobra 3, A1 and Qidi Q2. Each one has worked as intended. Check your settings and maybe calibrate your printers as this model is excellent. Thank you.

I am experiencing the same issue. Rotation is unfortunately impossible. The behavior is like a lid that locks into place

is it stuck, try to wobble it up or down. Lid should spin separately from winder part and you should twist and lock it in the place.

sorry to hear that, try to wobble it up and down, tolerances was pretty loose on this model. let me know if you manage to get it sorted, if not I will upload print profile with even bigger tolerances

sorry to hear that, which part does not work, because winder prints together with lid and should spin separately from lid. lid should be placed on base, twisted and it should snap in place.

ok, I see where the problem is, if you using bambu printer then print from app or computer my profile and do not change anything. or you should be able open 3mf files on other slicers also, but if you are using stl, then make sure you open lid and winder together in your slicer app and load them as one part. it should be printing like in picture .

print came out flawless. print was large and yet didn’t quite fit some cables. I think the cable doesn’t distribute evenly inside the spool. not sure if design could be tweaked. perhaps an outward bulging wall might accommodate cables bunching toward the centre, but not sure if that would fix it.

I love this model, but the triangles don‘t align after I put the two halfs together. What am I doing wrong? This is driving me nuts. 😂

good model, I had to increase the diameter and consequently scale the whole model to accommodate the 2 meter long cable.

I increased the outer diameter from 75 to 85 while maintaining constrained proportions for a proportional enlargement of all dimensions
