Description

K2 Spool Holder

Behold, a K2 Spool Holder - a "Heavy Duty" tabletop 1KG and a 2.5KG filament spool holder. A K2 Clip "Heavy Duty" Desktop Spool holder/feeder, designed to be connected with 1/2" EMT Conduit. It's scalable, so you can build this to be narrow or wide to hold multiple spools.

This is not a simple print in place holder, you can already find dozens of those, I wanted to create something different, something very sturdy. I have also added a snap-on filament guide / bowden tube feeder, and end caps to accent and express your own flair.

As an after thought, I did add the option for you to print your own "conduit" rods, I recommend you test print/fit a small section and scale the larger rod as needed. FYI, conduit is what the cool kids are using.

Print Files / Details:

  • K2SpoolHolder-1KG_v1.0.stl - Main supports
  • K2SpoolHolder-2.5KG_v1.0.stl - Pictured in Grey, LARGE 2.5KG Spool Holder Main Supports (Compatible with all other Finishing Touch parts below)

Finishing Touch:

  • K2SpoolHolder_Feeder_v1.1.stl - Filament Guide (also accepts a Bowden tube)
  • K2SpoolHolder_ConduitTopPlug_v1.0.stl - Finishing touch to your top spindle
  • K2SpoolHolder_Conduit_BottomPlug_v1.0.stl - Plug those bottom holes with style
  • NEW - K2SpoolHolder_Conduit_BottomPlug_26mm - Optional Bottom plug: Longer to allow for less precise conduit lengths.
  • K2SpoolHolder-Slippery_v1.0 - Optional sleeve your cardboard spools will rotate even more freely. Print in Spiral vase mode with a Brim using a shinny PLA or even a Silk. I printed using clear PLA.

Optional 3D Printed Rods:

  • K2SpoolHolder_Rod125mm.stl - 3DPrinted “conduit” Size it the length you wish (use a Brim).
  • K2SpoolHolder_RodTopRing_v1.0.stl- Finishing touch to your top spindle
  • K2SpoolHolder_RodTestFit.stl - Test the fit before printing.

My Print Settings:

  • 0.28mm Layer height (for added strength, .2mm works great too)
  • 15% infill
  • Conduit Length? I cut all 3 pieces of EMT conduit at 145mm length. You could go a smaller (like the 3D Printed Rod at 125mm) for a tighter fit, but it's nice to have the wiggle room.

How is the top crossbar assembled and fixed?

You need to print or use conduit. That sleave acts like a slip bearing, its not your bar.
