Lithophane lightbox

Turn your favorite photos or paintings into 3D art with this lithophane light box. Using lithophane image generators like e.g. LithophaneMaker, you can create framed designs. The box is specifically designed for the IKEA VATTENSTEN LED strip as the lightsource, but is not limited to it. 

The box is designed for a lithophane of dimensions 105x140 mm.

This design is a remix of the lithophane box uploaded on thingiverse by syeelong. The design for cable entry and box exterior has been modified and a light diffusing background has been added.

I generate my lithophanes with these settings:
 

Assembly

• Insert the fitting tool into the entry hole for the LED cable on the box backside.

• Put superglue on one side of the diffuser background and use the fitting tool to mount the diffuser on the inside of the box.

• Glue the cable plug end and body together to make a plug that fit into the cable entry hole.
• The wider end of the plug should be on the inside of the box.
• Wind the LED strip around the inner egde of the box (if using the IKEA LED strip there is sticky tape under the strip).
• Cut of the excess LED strip.
