Description

Improved version of my sea of thieves powder barrel. Improvements include:

Better clearances between pieces for better fit up
Improved legs (more prominent, better modeled)
Improved scroll

Support needed for multiple pieces due to assembly method.

Note components that fit together are line-on-line but fit together perfectly printed on P1S out of PLA. May require adjustment if printer is lower precision.

Pic includes two different print orientations for the scroll. The one with obvious layers was printed flat. The second one that looks cleaner was printed with the scroll side on the bed.

Really love this model. I do feel like there are some ways this could have been optimized to need less supports, less pieces, and to take better advantage of our AMS'. But overall very pleased with the results.

I designed it to print optimally for time - Modeling it as one unit requires a tremendous amount of swaps and ends up taking a huge amount of time. If you remove the alignment pegs, you could invert the flat pieces so they're printing upside down and you won't need any support. But I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks! since you don't have it set as being able to be remixed I will just explain what I mean. the pegs are fine and very helpful. but the barrel pieces recessing I to each other is probably not needed and would remove the need for supports on just about all of the barrel pieces. you could also replace the slot loading nature of the feet to use the same peg style and then they could probably get away without supports too. but honestly the red and black barrel pieces should all be printed as one piece. this would only require 6 color changes. and would print faster (I know because that's what I did, I'm just not uploading the remix to honor your license agreement. further. if you made the opening for the "sign" part to be tapered instead of square it could maybe be printed without supports as well but I didn't try that. anyway. love the print and my friend is very happy as well (it was a gift). thanks again!

printed well, some of the pins didn't fit the holes, so I chopped them and glued it instead. here's a picture of my sorry attempt to weather it

A bit too tight tolerance on the outer barrel parts for the feet. Tears along the layerlines. Other than that, it's a beautiful model. Def print the map on its side. Those layerlines while printed on the back ruins it for me
