I wanted to do a jointed model for the Printables contest. Jace1969 (who has a ton of great SW models) had this ATST model, but it was a solid model so I diced it up and added 14 joints to make it into a posable design.
I was trying to avoid any fasteners, but I had trouble getting the bottom two joints stiff enough to hold the weight so in the end it uses 4 M3 bolts, which is a size I figured most of us would have around kicking around. (If you need some these should work.)
The joints all use TPU bushings for ease of assembly and then added friction to keep the joints from sliding once posed. The joints should be stiff enough that you can just pose and it will hold in that position.
The printing is somewhat challenging given the detail. I have provided all my project files for any that want to see what I did. I used my prusa mark 4 and the organic supports and I was very pleased with how easy it was to get everything cleaned up. A razor blade, pliers and a bit of patience yielded a great result.
For those to who noticed, I know the clones don't go with the ATST, but my kids don't have any storm troopers.
