Description

Take your pond to the next level with this unique water feature. Dragon that breathes water (rather aggressively) when connected to your pond pump.

Technical Stuff:

  • I would highly recommend printing in PETG so that it can withstand the elements and the constant water pressure.
  • Prints with a female ½ PVC pipe adapter so you can screw it in easily to your system
  • It is printed with the internal “piping” in place
  • My water pressure is maybe too high, so some water drips from claws (I think the body fills with water)
  • The pump I am using is the Tetra Pond Pump which pushes up to 500 gallons per hour
  • Ideal for aerating your pond and/or removing algae (I also built and designed a 3d printed pond filter if anyone cares or is interested)
  • I designed it to print in two parts, the body and the wings. I did this because my first version had an issue with the large supports needed for the wings and I had to start over. Consequently, you will need to glue the wings to the body. It is designed to be a tight fit so you may have to trim it to fit just right.

My creation process is a little unique. I blend AI Mesh tools with On-Shape to create what I want. I don't stress too much about print quality (this is done with a .4 nozzle and standard settings) and usually add some acrylic paint to get the right look. I always try to optimize the printing, so that failure rates are low and waste is minimized.

You can check out my other designs at my homepage here: https://spencermann.com

It is a work in progress, but I hope to provide more information about my models, and some tips if you want to create your own.
