Description

This enclosure is for everyone who has lost a SanDisk SSD in the past. With this enclosure, you are able to integrate an AirTag with your SSD, so you can always find the SSD. There is also a Dock for this enclosure I have designed. You can find it here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/141402#profileId-154092

This enclosure has two versions. Version No. 1 can be printed in one step, and the SSD can be easily mounted and removed from the enclosure.

With Version No. 2, the SSD can be embedded into the print. This is a permanent solution.

What you will need:

  • 4x M3x4mm Screws with a rounded head (only 2 for Version 2)
  • 4x M3 thread short heat inserts (only 2 for Version 2)
  • 1x AirTag, of course :)
  • 1x SanDisk Extreme SSD
  • Double-sided Tape for Version 2

Recommendation for printing Version 2:

Version 2 has two parts. The smaller part has to be printed first. The main part can be printed afterward with a pause command at layer 76. When the pause is initiated, you can put your SSD inside the print. I recommend using double-sided tape for the round shape because if not used, it will warp heavily.

This is how it should look before you stop the pause. Please make sure that both parts align perfectly. The inserted part should not be lower than the outer wall of the main part.

Recommendation for assembly (only for Version 1):

It is important that you do not embed the heat inserts too deeply into the part; otherwise, you could scratch the SSD on the sides when assembling both parts.

Happy printing :)
