Christmas Light Plug Riser

Every year I had frustration with my Christmas lights that I put directly on the ground. I do this for a snow effect. The problem with this is when it rains the water leaches voltage into the ground, just enough to cause GFCI outlets to trip. My solution for this problem is to raise the plug portion up just an inch or more to eliminate contact with the ground. This also prevents the plug ends from being submerged into a puddle in heavy rain. I have no issues with the open plugs in the rain when elevated.

I designed the tray to print without having to fill in random spots here and there. It should be a continuous solid infill for the tray portion because of the number of walls and the 2mm width. This reduces print time and keeps the part nice and robust.

I highly recommend printing these in PETG. It is fast and easy and weatherproof. 

The design has a tray and a separate spike. The spike portion has a male dovetail end that slides into the tray female dovetail. It is a friction fit that doesn't require any glue but feel free to use a drop of CA glue if you feel it is necessary. Mine are fine without. 

I have included 3 plates. One plate has a single tray and spike for those that want to print one to test or just need one here and there. I recommend using “Print Sequence” → “By Object” on this tray specifically as it will print one object to completion, then move on to the next. It is much more efficient than printing two objects simultaneously. The other two plates are 25 each of the spikes and the trays for those needed to print in bulk.
