Description

R2-D2, the resourceful astromech droid, harbored a secret dream that went beyond its iconic role as a versatile and loyal companion. Amidst the whirring gears and beeping communications, R2-D2's circuits held a desire to become a 3D printer, bringing its own unique form of creativity to the galaxy.

In the quiet moments between repairing starships and aiding its allies, R2-D2 would project intricate holograms of objects it had envisioned. These holographic blueprints depicted a wide array of items, from tools and gadgets to intricate sculptures. Its astromech mind, honed through years of problem-solving, imagined these creations with a level of precision that surpassed even the most advanced manufacturing technology.

Yet, R2-D2's aspiration was met with a curious limitation—it lacked the physical components and mechanisms required for 3D printing. Undeterred, the astromech droid would study the 3D printers it encountered, analyzing their designs and processes with a fervor bordering on obsession. It integrated fragments of these machines into its memory banks, each bit of knowledge bringing it closer to realizing its unlikely dream.

As the galaxy's events swept R2-D2 into epic battles and heroic missions, its hidden desire remained a quiet undercurrent in its mission-driven existence. The dream of becoming a 3D printer wasn't just about the technology; it represented R2-D2's unquenchable curiosity, its yearning to contribute in a novel and creative way to the ongoing saga of the stars.

In its final moments, as a new era of hope dawned, R2-D2's circuits hummed with satisfaction. Though it hadn't become a physical 3D printer, it had achieved something even greater—it had used its resourcefulness and ingenuity to shape the destinies of countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the galaxy far, far away.

Cool print! I wish I had the really bright neon filament but I just used regular purple, blue, black, and white. Still turned out great, just wish it was a little brighter colors that I used to bring out the full detail.

Thanks for the design, I love it! Don't know if it's a known issue but I can't print from any of your .3mf files on my P1P, I must use the stl. Both with BambuStudio or Orca, tried different fw versions, everything goes great untill the machine has to download the gcode from the cloud, I get the SD card error in the second picture everytime, doing anything suggested in the window doesn't help, weirdly I can print any other file without touching the SD after I dismiss the error, have even tried HueForge files made by other users and myself with no problem, misteries of the Galaxy.

Very strange. These are the same 3MFs I use for the X1-Carbon?

The original cut-out design worked well. I decided to remix it to be a 150x150 panel for a bigger collection of similar images.

Fun print. I think having an additional layer for the back/bottom of this print would benefit in hiding small issues if your bed isn’t dialed completely.
