Description

Orange M&M character pen holder

KINLUOT was kind enough to send me a free spool of their new ABS filament to experiment with. I absolutely loved the orange color and created this design to test it out. I will say that with the standard ABS settings in Bambu slicer I struggled to get reliable prints at first, but thanks to the recommended settings on the box it was easy to dial in.

I figured a M&M would be a great choice for ABS as I could acetone smooth the print and really make it shine!

I printed the character on my Bambu lab X1 in muti color after testing out variations of the design.

I included both sets of files, so if you don’t have the capabilities to print all the colors at once, you can still print all the pieces out separately and glue them together.

There is a difference in the files, as printing the pieces out separately, I created clearances in the parts to help insure one piece will fit into the other. I also adapted some changes to either design, eliminating the need for supports in the single extruder files around the face on the M&M. Although in the MMU files, I would recommend supports touching build plate only around the main body.

When printing out the pieces seperatly, I designed the black eye pieces so that a scrap piece of white fillement can be pressed in to finish it off.

Weather printing out pieces separately, or as one multi color print, all the parts should load in your slicer in the correct orientation.

All the part names that start with MMU are to be printed all at once, while the names that start with orange, black, white, or tan are to be printed out separately the assembled together.

Assembly should be simple enough once all the parts are printed out, you may have to study the pictures shown to determine which is the right-side vs the left side pieces.

Filament colors used where whatever else I had on hand, KINLUOT orange ABS, Sunlu black ABS, Overture white ABS, and Paramount universal beige ABS

I really enjoyed printing this. I had to make a couple of adjustments because parts didn't exactly fit, but a dremel fixed that.
