Description

I plan to create some models with the same “living-in-the-frame” concept and style.

This is the first one and i hope you like it.

Update 25/8/2023: Added 6mm depth version, the original version is 2mm depth. The “deep” new model will take significantly more time to print and more filament.

Both models might show an error for "non-manifold edges”, i did a repair using orca slicer and although it tool some time, it fixed the errors. If you see empty spaces inside the frame, the model will not print correctly. You can also use the print profiles which include the corrected model versions

For Model with 2mm depth

Print at 100% infill with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.16mm

Filaments Used:

  • PLA Overture Black
  • PLA Overture Cement Gray
  • PLA+ Sunlu Gray
  • PLA Overture Light Gray
  • PLA+ Esun Bone White
  • PLA+ Sunlu White

Swap Instructions:

  • Start with Black
  • At layer #5 (0.48mm) swap to Cement Gray
  • At layer #8 (0.72mm) swap to Grey
  • At layer #12 (1.04mm) swap to Light Gray
  • At layer #16 (1.36mm) swap to Bone White
  • At layer #18 (1.52mm) swap to White for the rest.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't have the colors it called for, so I used the colors I have, and it turned out quite nice anyways! the design itself is beautiful.

Turned out great the way I wanted just wish I could hang it. A nail hole on the rear would make hueforge prints better.

Glad you like it :) You can always use white/blue tac to put it on the wall. For the hole you mentioned, it archivable using a negative cylinder on the slicer.

I love how this turned out! Printed on my A1 mini (sized down the x and y dimensions to fit the smaller print bed) Main 2mm profile, I printed all layers in black using Elegoo pla I then primed and painted the image using acrylics. I cut a piece of chipboard and glued it to the back to prevent warping which also allowed me to add a wall hanger.

Great work Don. I printed your Rooted in the Frame in 6 colors on my X1C. It came out amazing. This after 4 attempts at setting up the printer. Maybe I'm missing something, but is there a way to set this model up to use the X1C AMS? I was able to print it by manually pausing at each of the prescribed layers to switch the filament. This was bit tedious and time consuming. I get it would take two AMS's to print 6 colors. I can make that happen. Any advice is most appreciated as I would like to print more of your work and subscribe monthly for a commercial license. Thanks!
