š§° What You Need:
- A TomatoHook Pro
- Strong tomato twine or string (approx. 10ā12 meters)
- A support structure above the plant (e.g., wire, pipe, or horizontal bar)
- Plant clips or soft ties
ā Instructions:
- Wind the String
- Wind about 10 meters (30 feet) of string neatly around the hook.
- Attach the Hook
- Hang the hook on a horizontal support structure above your tomato plant, such as a wire or rod in a greenhouse.
- Let the String Down
- Unwind the string so it hangs straight down to the base of the plant.
- Tie the Plant
- Gently guide the tomato plant along the string.
- Secure the plant every 8ā12 inches (20ā30āÆcm) using plant clips or soft ties to prevent damage.
- Maintain as the Plant Grows
- As the plant gets taller, continue training it upward by wrapping it loosely around the string or adding more clips.
- For very tall plants, use the "lower and lean" method: unwind some extra string and gently tilt the plant sideways to prevent it from growing too close to the top.
š” Tips:
- Use UV-resistant string to ensure it lasts through the season.
- Remove suckers (side shoots) regularly to focus the plantās energy on one main stem.
- Keep the string tight enough to support the plant, but not so tight that it restricts growth.
- Tomato hooks are reusable ā just rewind new string for the next season.
