Description

01/16/2024 ***EDIT*** If you use the “Open in Bambu Studio” link, you will lose the names I put on the objects, so I added the 3MF as a raw file. If you download that raw file and open it up, you can see the names under objects.

Hello All!

I always like to make sure my ironing settings are dialed in for projects I am working on, so I made this test profile you can use to dial in your settings. Make sure you don't change any of the settings in the profile or it can mess up the test!

You can pick which plate to print based on if you have Under-extrusion or Over-extrusion. Then when it is done printing, compare the numbered circles to find which one looks the best.

Once you find the one you like the most, you can see which settings correspond to the number under the Objects tab (the “Objects” tab is under "Process":

Just apply those settings to your print and you should get some better results for your ironing!

Just an FYI - Dialing in the ironing settings won't always fix everything if you have made adjustments to your line width, or don't have the proper top shell layers, etc. This is just to get ironing the best it can be, before messing with those settings.

Feel free to message me with any questions!

wondering if I’m doing something wrong. I haven’t change anything except the printer (a1 -> x1c). all 6 looks the same, maybe 6 looks a little bit better. But still not happy with the result 🤔

6 does look the best, but is still a bit under extruded. I would bump flow up to 20% and try that as well.

sorry for the late response. Tried bumping up the flow. see screenshot, first one is 20% and the one at the bottom is 25%. I’m wondering if this is as good as it could be, or still something wrong. Bcs not a huge fan of the result tbh

also tried the over extrusion plate, that’s the one with green numbers. But it’s worse than the under extrusion plate.

works perfectly! gave me the exact settings I needed for a print with ironing. 5&6 were both good for my P1S. I chose 6 and it came out great.

They all look bad. Should I try the over-extrusion one?

Printed both versions to see them all. On the picture you can see the ones for over extrusion. The first one failed so I decided to skip that part. Teally helpful print :)

This is cool. I'm curious how I know which to pick, Under-extrusion or Over-extrusion? I have been having pretty good results with normal prints so I'm not sure which I should use. Thanks!

Under extrusion is what I have pictured for the model. Over extrusion would be if you get bumps and maybe little filament dust. I was going to post an example of each, but didn't have any over extrusion issues. I will most likely force some later and update with more photos :)

It was ok. Really did not see any difference in doing this print.
