Description

I wanted to recreate this since I saw it a while back - a WWII pilot trainer , you sat in the chair had to control the stick to get the ball to the middle and balanced there. I also wanted to attempt using raw filament as actuator cables and, it works! 12mm ball bearing shown here.

The filament channels here are 2.7mm in diameter for 1.75mm filament. Much tighter seemed to bind too much. Who knows, maybe this will spark a whole new contest category, using raw filament for stuff.

Printed here mostly in PETG but anything will be fine. Don't use supports for anything. This with 0.6mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height for the base, stick, and cross. 0.3mm for the maze is fine, or whatever you like. It will fit on a Prusa Mini bed. Maybe use something flexible and smooth for the cables, like PETG.

I sprayed a bit of lubrication into the channels(White Lithium grease) but I'm not sure it was needed.

Also, I tried to get the filament connection points the right size, but you might need to drill a bit, or use a dot of glue, etc. depending on how things come out. Maybe use a smaller screwdriver, etc to gently pry open the little slits to get the filament in. On my earlier version, I did use a soldering iron to melt the very ends of the filament at the maze end. Please let me know if the sizes are off too much.

UPDATE 10/9/22: Filament connection points tweaked a bit for ease of installation and fit.
