Description

Easter Tomb Scene — Interactive 3D-Printed Model (Work in Progress)

This 3D-printed project is an interactive mechanical model designed to represent the Easter story in a simple yet meaningful way. When the stone is manually pushed to the right, the hidden “He Is Risen” sign swings into view and the sun rises along with it — symbolizing the dawn of Resurrection morning.

This model is designed for flexibility:

  • You can enjoy it as a purely mechanical, hands-on piece, or
  • Modify it to incorporate LED lighting and motors for automated movement and glowing effects in future versions.

About This Model

This is a work-in-progress release. The current upload features the complete base model — focused on the main mechanics and scene layout — with plans for more enhancements on the way!

  • The model is designed to print with or without the side decorative extensions (like the tree shown in the pictures) to suit different display spaces.
  • Additional decorative add-ons are in development, which will expand the scenery and add variety.
  • A future update will include an option for installing LED lighting inside the tomb, so that when the stone is pushed away, the tomb lights up.
  • The model can also be adapted for motor-driven movement if you prefer a fully automated effect.

Printing & Assembly Notes

  • Screws, Bolts & Nuts: For best performance, print these using PLA Basic or PLA Plus at 100% infill. Although matte PLA will work, it may not offer the best fit or strength for connectors and threaded parts.
  • The model is designed for easy printing without the need for an AMS (multi-material system). All parts are separated for single-extruder setups.
  • Printed and tested on a Bambu Lab printer — tolerances are tuned for this machine. If you're using a different printer, slight fitting adjustments might be needed depending on slicer settings and filament brand.
  • Assembly: A combination of snap-fit, screwed, and optionally glued joints depending on the part. This allows for both sturdy builds and easy disassembly or modifications.

If you experience any tolerance issues during assembly, feel free to reach out — I’ll be more than happy to help. In most cases, everything should fit together smoothly.

Gear Mount Plate — Ready for Expansion

The gear mount plate was intentionally designed with extra room and space for future additions. This makes it easy for anyone who wants to experiment with adding more gears, linkages, or motion elements to expand the mechanical interaction beyond the base model.

A Maker’s Note

This model was originally intended for release well before Easter, but the design process took me over a month to refine. I managed to complete the base model just a week before Easter, and I’m excited to finally share it. More updates — including LED light guides, motor ideas, and new scenic add-ons — are already planned.
