Description

Mending loom, Darning loom, Darning tool, weaving loom:

  • small mending loom to fix clothes or weave pretty patches on your clothes
  • darting loom with 14 movable needles, so you can easily separate your lower thread from your upper thread
  • 1 plate print
  • you only need 65 g of filament, 2 small screws and 2 rubber bands
  • minimal supports
  • assemble: put all the needles in the Head of the loom, continue with screwing on the lid of the loom head; for weaving, simply place the rubber bands around your fabric and loom bed like you would with any other mending loom, and use the second rubber band to secure the loom bed to the loom head
  • in my model, I used PLA, but for stability concerns, I would recommend PETG at least for the needles

Worked great! This was my first patch with it and it was super easy!

This printed perfectly for me. I read some reviews saying that their pins broke, so we printed it in a stronger plastic and we had no problems. The design file is missing one pin, so we had to go back and print another one. But that wasn’t a big deal. I’m very happy with it!

Prints ok in PLA with some post-processing required. Bed adhesion issues with the hooks. I tried printing just the hooks after fully cleaning my build plate. I got better adhesion, but the hooks came out warped...they should still be usable with a bit of trimming. As others have pointed out, there is 1 hook missing from the print profile. Since the hooks are the most likely piece to fail or break, perhaps you could make a print profile for just the hooks. You could include a version with brims for better bed adhesion. It's easy enough to select just the hooks from the app, but a separate print profile could still be helpful. The ironing on top of the round bit is pretty rough. Unsure if that's an issue on my end from using PLA instead of PETG. Overall really cool model!

Any interest in expanding this? If you upload a .step I can modify myself and credit you in the upload. I just (foolishly) bought a fairly inexpensive metal version and I'm loving it, but I have a few holes that could use a larger loom. I had to piece together a few to fix this pair of jeans : )

I know it's been a few months, but I ended up designing one that is longer specifically for my kids' jeans. It works pretty well with this loom. https://makerworld.com/en/models/2110203-longer-mending-loom-piece#profileId-2282867

So excited about this print but it only has 13 in the print profile instead of the 14 needed. I went crazy searching for the hook I thought I dropped and didn’t realize the real issue until I came back to reprint an extra.

I’m very happy to have this tool. It works wonderfully. followed advice of others and added brim to the hooks. I would add support to the disc next time, since there was quite a bit of unsightly stringing due to the sharp angle of the rubber band divot. I watched the print struggle and extrude filament into air and was quite afraid the print would fail, but it pulled through. also drilled into the holes to expand to fit the screws I had on hand.

The "frame" printed perfectly, had some trouble with the "needles" decided to try some PETG with a few fails, basically the hooked corner with a small brim will make it print great. Awesome design, not sure if it'll work as its a request from a family member but I appreciate the effort.

Printed in BBL Basic PLA, turned out so nice that I've now printed two more for some of my crafty co-workers who fell in love at first sight when I brought it in to show off, haha. None of us has actually used one to mend/weave a patch yet so we'll have to wait and see how functional it really is, or durable the hooks are -- I printed extra of those, just in case. If they fail too easily (I did manage to mangle one just getting it off the build plate...mea culpa for being impatient and trying to pry it loose before it had cooled enough), I might try another type of filament, but for now we'll go with the PLA. Many thanks to the designer for sharing!

what kind of screws did you use? I can’t find small size screw.
