Starting from scratch, I've redesigned this 3D print model for a more polished look and increased functionality. The original and remixed versions had their charm, but they lacked a finished appearance and the staging area was too small for my needs. Simply resizing the remix didn't yield the results I wanted, prompting me to embark on a complete redesign.
In this new design, I've enhanced the mounting tab by adding more tabs, leading to two distinct versions: the "tabbed" for wall attachment and the "tab neg" that connects to the "tabbed" version. This model isn't suited for those who prefer to screw down each hexagon, but it's perfect for a sleek, finished look or for those wanting to customize their hexes with different colored covers.
Here's a quick guide to the varied covers:
For the Hulk Hex Shelf variant displayed in the photos, I used Polylite Starlite Comet PLA in green and Starlite Purple PLA for the purple elements. Everything was printed face down on a PEY plate. The only part requiring supports in this orientation is the “Tabbed” Hex. The project consumed approximately 5 spools and took around 110 hours, though using regular PLA could halve this time due to its higher flow rate.
