Description

Dowel filament shelf

This model is a cheap and conveniant shelf to store your filaments. It can handle 1kg rolls and bambu 1kg refils. It also handles filaments boxes.

The included tags allow you to quickly organise your filaments.

the design is meant to be used with a 25mm dowel, however, a 1" (25,4mm) dowel should fit just fine if you resize the print to 101,5%

Print insturctions

For bambu studio users :

Download the .3mf and hit print, for the tags, you can clone one and change the text to add what you want. If you do not have an AMS, add a pause between layer 10 and 11 to change filament (if sliced with 0.2 layer height)

For others :

Download Dowel mount.step and slice with following parameters (at least that's what I used)

Filament : PLA

Wall : 6
bottom layer/top layer : 5
Infill : Adaptative cubic 60%

A brim might help

To print the tags, add text to Tag rack.step either in your slicer if possible, or in 3Dbuilder. Change filament from layer 11 to have the dual color effect.

Build instructions

BOM

  • 4x 3x40 screws with FLAT HEAD. chamfered screws will cause delamination of the plastic (see picture on the left)
  • 4x 3x10mm washers
  • 4x wall plug adapted to your wall and screws
  • 1x 25mm dowel or 1" dowel (remember to scale up the print by 101,5% if you use an imperial dowel). My dowel is 1m long and handle ~10kg of filament, but you can adapt yours as you need.

Do not use chamfered screw as the plastic will delaminate

Assembly

  • Print all the parts
  • Push the dowel inside the mounts. If it's hard, you can lay the mont on the ground, put the dowel over the hole, and hammer it in from above
  • Screw the shelf to the wall
