3D-printed button cover for underground parking control – Preventing accidental pressing

Hello everyone,

I have developed a cover for an underground parking garage to prevent buttons from being pressed accidentally. Specifically, it is about a control with "Down", "Up", and "STOP" buttons, where the "STOP" button in particular was often unintentionally activated.

Solution: A precisely fitting protector for the STOP button

I have created a 3D-printed cover that can be slipped over the STOP button. It is designed so that it can only be removed with deliberate access, thus preventing accidental activation.

Material & Printing

  • Material: PLA
  • Printing process: FDM
  • Color: Dark blue with white lettering
  • Design: Outside with raised "STOP" inscription, inside hollow so that it fits exactly over the button

Assembly & Benefits

  • The cover is simply pushed over the button and remains securely in place due to the tight fit.
  • No drilling or gluing necessary – removable at any time.
  • Ideal for areas where accidental activation is problematic (e.g., underground parking controls, industrial plants).

I have attached some images showing the original problem as well as the solution. If there is any interest, I will gladly provide the print file or make further copies on request.

What do you think? Suggestions for improvement are welcome!
