Description

I use the IKEA Helmer for the storage of all my excess quadcopter parts.

I recently assembled a fourth Helmer to hold more equipment and give me some more surface area up top for my battery-charging and bumped into my 3D printer cart when I reached for the labels that were included with the Helmer.

That caused a lightbulb to go off in my head. Why sloppily write a bunch of labels when I could 3D Design and print my own?

*Helmer Label -- Plateful.scad: This can be used to create a larger number of labels, I found it easier than creating 24 unique STLs to feed to my printer. If you're familiar with OpenSCAD, editing it should be fairly straightforward and I suggest that you go that route!_ *Helmer Label -- Inverse Single.scad: This is the .SCAD file for my first prototype (the red one in the photo). I'd originally wanted to just use empty space and allow the color of my Helmer (white) to show through. However, I couldn't find a good stencil font and as a result, the inner bits of some letters (example: e, A, b, etc...) wound up getting left on the plate. For this to work well, you'll need to find some sort of stencil font to use instead of the Impact font that I'm using. I didn't like how this turned out, but I'm adding it based on a request!
