Description

Orkhon Inscriptions (Orhun Abideleri)

The Orkhon Inscriptions are the oldest known written records of the Turkic people, dating back to the 8th century. They were erected by the Göktürks in the Orkhon Valley of present-day Mongolia in honor of Bilge Khan, Kül Tigin, and Tonyukuk. Written in the Old Turkic script, these inscriptions provide valuable insights into the political, military, and cultural history of the Göktürk Empire. They emphasize themes of leadership, governance, and the importance of unity among the Turkic tribes. The inscriptions are regarded as a significant part of Turkic heritage and are considered a milestone in the history of written language.
