  • M2.6 screws x 4: 4 of M2.6 x 0.45 mm Thread, 6 mm long
  • M2 screws x 2: 2 of M2 x 0.4 mm Thread, 4 mm long
  • Apple iSight x 1: Available new and used on eBay
  • Raspberry Pi Zero x 1: The W version adds Wifi, which makes working with it easier and opens it up to more applications.I personally used the Pi zero 2W
  • Raspberry Pi Camera x 1: I used the V3, but other versions (v2 and v1) should be working too. Not tested with HQ or AI camera.
  • Raspberry Pi Zero camera cable x 1: A few options, but the 15 cm long narrow ones seem to work best.Be sure to have spares, gets damaged pretty easily!
  • Micro-USB cable x 1: Many options, just need to fit the iSight adapter. Needs to have data capability.

Description

It's 2025, and you have an iSight, arguably one of the most aesthetically beautiful webcams ever created. But despite its timeless design, it’s no longer usable because it was made for a different era. So, you decide to repurpose it into a PiSight, inspired either by Max Braun's GitHub project (https://github.com/maxbbraun/pisight) or this video by f4mi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1T1eMyPIC4).

 

This model is my updated version of Max Braun's design, with improvements to make it easier to install the camera module and more room beneath and above the Raspberry Pi to store the camera cable.

 

I’ve also added a small friction-fit piece underneath the webcam, where the micro USB plug is located, inspired by the original iSight design. This addition gives it a more polished and refined look, just like the original :)
