Description

NES 8-bit controller replacement shell with a removable and customisable faceplate.

This is a full non-replica replacement shell for the NES 8-bit controller, the back is shaved smooth with no text, the logo on the faceplate has also been removed. No buttons included!

IMPORTANT!

In the print file there are a few things to take note of if you want to have a successful print!

  1. The shell is printed on a SMOOTH PEI plate while the faceplate is printed on a TEXTURED PEI plate. If you don't have both, please adjust the file accordingly!

NOTE! Difference between print plates on Shell VS Faceplate

  2.  The “Stock” Faceplate should preferably be printed with a 0.2mm nozzle, this is what I have been using in my sample images. The following is a visual comparison in the slicer!

NOTE! Sliced with a 0.2mm nozzle!

NOTE! Sliced with a 0.4mm nozzle!

Nice design! What kind of supports du you use? My start select groove looks really bad.

It should use standard "normal" supports. I am aware that when using the basic profile the start and select slot can look a little rough as I don't want to risk print failure if people's tolerances are not quite correct. If you are able to print that piece with adjusted tolarences with a different filament you could get a great result, so PETG supports if the shell is printed in PLA, that way you'll be able to get it much smoother. If you print the front shell with tree supports I know that the majority of the supports where you add the decorative piece will be quite difficult to remove when I did my testing. The goal was to make it easy to print with as little waste as possible, so some corners had to be cut. Attached is a close up of my final test print with the supplied print profile with genuine Nintendo internals.

I understand! You dont happen to have a "hard to print" variant as well? I'd love to make these as good looking as possible :)

If you're keen to learn more about using different materials for a smother finish you should check out this thread: https://forum.bambulab.com/t/support-filament-petg-for-pla-and-pla-for-petg-and-more/5942/4 I unfortunately don't have the capacity to set up and test a PLA/PETG-blend profile at the moment.
