Description

This adapter will securely hold the Bambu Lithophane LED Backlight Board Kit inside the Modular Lantern Mk2. The LED boards clip into the adapter but can be easily removed.

Note this is NOT compatible with the original Modular Lantern or Original Lithophane version, you will need the Mk2 core listed here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/834175#profileId-779100 as it adds an internal thread for fittings like this.

Updated (09/03/2025): Increased tolerance to make it easier to lock into place and added a cross beam to help. If you still find it tight I suggest locking it into place a few times without the LEDs in place to ware the plastic a little. You can also do this by inserting it into the outside bottom of the lantern which is easier due to the lack of uprights in the way. As always give me feedback if you find it too tight etc. I'm erring on tight; I tried with more tolerance but it rattled a bit too much.

Boost Me (for free)

A boost is exactly that. A huge boost to my confidence and reason to keep creating and sharing in this wonderful hobby. Thank you!

It's pretty straight forward to assemble, first connect the wires provided in the kit to the boards. Then insert the one with the switch attached to the bottom connector first. You should then secure the cable with a cable tie and push it back towards the LEDs so that there is no pulling pressure on the clip:

Then insert the remaining 3 boards and place the column into the lantern at 45 degrees and rotate to lock into place, ensuring the cable moves to align with the cable hole in the lantern.

You can optionally blank off the base further using the included blanking plate and also use the cable clip provided in the original lantern files to secure the cable further.

This does not provide an even light for the top panel so I suggest using one of the many tops, or I have considered adding a 2nd component to the top of this to mount Bambu's set of 4 LEDs in the centre facing up. If there is demand for this I can look at modelling it up.
