Making of

This diver was a request by a friend of mine. It was given to him by his late father and wanted a copy of it that he could 3D print.
I first dusted the original (shiny black) plastic with the dirt by my door and set up a photogrammetry rig with a homemade motorised turntable and light.

The first mesh was not that far from the truth. Lots of cleanup went there thank to Blender.

I tried to replicate most of the details I could get from the original statue while cleaning most of the noise using Blender.

I had to remove some details from the face so the print would start on the mask. I'm pretty please with the results, so with my friend's benediction, I can share with you this small model with its history, in memory of his father.

Here are a few before and after cleaning and sculpting.

Printed it using 200mm for the length of the diver (about 164%) and while it did take awhile (roughly 22hours) it came out great!
