Description

ESP32 Motion Sensor Case - Options for 30 and 38 pin MCU

Custom case for a Motion Sensor and Photo (light level) Sensor that has an optional for an adjustable wall mount Ball Joint.

This case can be wall mounted. Here is the Basic Ball Joint that attaches to the case for mounting and adjustable positioning. If you don't want to mount the case, you can optionally remove the Screw Hole “negative part” from the Objects in Bambu Studio.

This case is precisely designed to house:

(I have no affiliation with Amazon or these products)

I made the following connections:

Photo Sensor

SensorMCU
VCC3V3
GNDGND
A0D34

PIR Sensor

SensorMCU
VCC3V3
GNDGND
OUTD19

You can program the MCU as you wish. For example in Arduino.  I use Home Assistant and the ESPHome system. You are welcome to copy or adapt my yaml configuration file. See documentation files and rename the text file to .yaml.

Notes:

  • This case accomodates the microcontroller with or without header pins.
  • If you solder the jumper wires, there will be plenty room.
  • If you use regular Dupont jumper wires, it might be a challenge for room.
  • I personally cut the black plastic off the jumper wires and bend the bins 90 degrees. Zoom in to the photos. This gives much more room.
  • I use hot glue to position and insulate everything. Especially with black plastic removed from jumper wires.
  • The photo sensor has 2 bright green LED lights than can shine through the case (lid). I use Sticky Tack to block it and the mcu's red light. It's easier to do the sticky tack before the hot glue. Sigh.
  • I use a pin splitter (see link above) to easily split GND and 3V3 for the two sensors.
  • You can use a 20 mm magnet and 20 mm washer with the Ball Joint to have an even better adjustable wall mount.
