6500K White LED Light Strip (1pcs) - KA004 / White (41100)

Description

This cylinder connects inside the Mk2 & Mk3 version of the Modular Lantern and allows you to run a set of LEDs around it. It has compartments suitable for batteries, designed to accept up to 3xAA and also designed to keep the battery case at the top so that any IR sensor still works for a remote control.

There is a version included for the cube too.

It is not compatible with the original Mk1 Modular Lantern or cube, check you have a flat internal base to the lantern core.

There are several places for cable ties and a couple of pins to allow you to wrap fairy lights around.

Boost Me (for free)

A boost is exactly that, a huge boost to my confidence and reason to keep creating and sharing in this wonderful hobby. Thank you!

I've not used this much, it was a request from one of my Patreon members so please contact me with any suggested improvements.

Be sure to checkout this model too available on Patreon for quick access to a switch on the battery pack.

LED Strip

There is a feint spiral around the cylinder which you can follow should you wish to. It's just shorter than 1m making it a good guide for 1m strips. Of course you can use longer if you want.

Insert the strip through the hole at the bottom and optionally use a cable tie to secure the cable:

Wrap around the cylinder using the adhesive and optionally another cable tie at the top.

Fairy Lights

If there is a battery case place it in the provided area with the switch and or ideally IR receiver at the top, shove any excess wire into the centre and wrap the start of the lights around the internal peg. You can also use a cable tie on this too. Then wrap the lights around the cylinder. I had way too many so trying to do this neatly was nigh on impossible, but a random approach looks good anyway. You could also insert the cylinder into the lantern and then fill it with the LEDs without wrapping for a different look.

Insert Cylinder

The Mk2 core has two base threads, this uses the internal, top one. So insert the cylinder from the top (It's too big to fit through the hole anyway!)

Optional Cover

There is an optional cable cover which you can use, it's also useful if you want to store batteries in the lower half of the cylinder. Remember you can also use the cable clamp built into the base of the lantern core.
