Story

🌱 What Is Phytoring?

Phytoring is a 3D-printable hanging ceiling lamp with a built-in microgreens tray. Phyto means plants. Ring is the torus shape. It lights your room. It grows your food. It looks incredible doing both.

🕰️ The Origin Story

In 2019, Benditas Studio drew the Brot Lamp concept - a torus-shaped hanging light with a built-in planting tray, featured on Yanko Design. Thousands of people wanted it. Nobody built it. Six years passed.

Phytoring is the real, engineered, printable, working version of a concept that never got made - built with full respect for where the idea came from.

⚙️ How It Works

🖨️ Print - 8 parts, any standard home FDM printer. No supports needed.

🔧 Assemble - Custom rope adapter carries the full 2kg load. Wires carry zero weight.

🌱 Plant - Fill with coconut coir, spread seeds, press with tool, close shade for germination.

🌿 Grow - Partially open for early growth. Fully open for harvest.

💡 Light up - E14 bulb with pull-rope switch. Smart bulb and phytolamp compatible.

Risks and Challenges

💰 Budgeting: The $1,300 goal covers the delivery of professionally engineered STL files for all three Phytoring versions, along with tutorial video production, growing guides, and hardware sourcing research. All designs are already complete and tested — your funding ensures everything is packaged and documented to the highest standard for makers. ⏱️ Timelines: All STL files are complete and ready to deliver. The remaining work is the assembly tutorial video, microgreens growing guide (PDF + video), and hardware sourcing list. We estimate all content to be delivered within 14 days of campaign close. If anything shifts we will communicate openly with backers through regular campaign updates. 🖨️ Printing Challenges: Phytoring is a multi-part print. Some backers may encounter bed adhesion, warping, or tolerance issues on their specific printer. To address this we will provide: Detailed slicer settings for all major printers, Recommended filament types and brands, Full troubleshooting guide. 🌱 Microgreens Growing: Growing plants is not guaranteed. Results depend on seed variety, humidity, light spectrum, and watering habits. We are makers, not professional horticulturists - and we are honest about that. We document exactly what worked and what failed across dozens of batches so backers have the best possible starting point. 👥 Audience Size: We have 750,000+ YouTube subscribers and an engaged maker community. We are confident the $1,300 goal is very achievable. But this is an all-or-nothing campaign - if we do not hit the goal, no one is charged and no funds are collected. Backers carry zero financial risk.
